Nutritional Information on Date Sugar
Date Sugar (also referred to as date palm sugar) is made with 100% organic, dried dates that have been sorted, pitted, ground, and sieved to produce a fine powder consistency. It is considered among the ‘healthy sugars’ on the market.

All varieties of dates can be made into Date Sugar; even the popular Medjool dates and Deglet Noor dates. Unlike regular, white sugar (which is highly processed and devoid of much nutritional benefit), date sugar contains more nutritional benefits like dietary fiber to promote a healthy digestion. Date sugar has a similar flavor profile to brown sugar or butterscotch.

The natural sweetness, fiber, and the other health benefits of dates make date sugar a good substitution to other alternative sweeteners like maple syrup and coconut sugar.

Since date sugar is made from pitted dates which are simply dried and ground; they remain a rich source of essential vitamins and minerals that contribute to an overall healthy lifestyle.

The Wonderful Benefits of Dates

Understanding Date Nutrition is more than just knowing the vitamins and minerals present. It means going beyond Dates calories, and the nutrition facts of fresh dates. It means understanding the benefits associated with incorporating date fruit into your everyday routine.

Date Sugar Contains
Phosphorus: Keeps the bones and teeth strong, helps the muscles contract, filters and removes waste from the kidneys, and helps in managing the body’s energy usage and storage.

Potassium: Potassium is an electrolyte that the body needs to stay healthy. In healthy people, potassium lowers this risk of high blood pressure by helping the body remove sodium; and helps manage blood pressure by relaxing the walls of the blood vessels.

Calcium: Calcium plays various roles in the body. Calcium is essential for the development, growth, and maintenance of bone. Various studies have indicated a possible link between high consumption of calcium and lower blood pressure.

Magnesium: The body needs magnesium to maintain the health of muscles, including the heart. Research has found that magnesium plays an important role in heart health.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine): Vitamin B6 has many functions in the body; however, one of its main roles is in helping the body metabolize proteins, fats, and carbohydrates for energy.

Copper: Copper is an essential nutrient for the body. Together with iron, it enables the body to form red blood cells.

Iron: Iron helps to preserve many vital functions in the body, including general energy and focus, gastrointestinal processes, the immune system, and the regulation of body temperature.

Niacin: Niacin is a B vitamin that's made and used by your body to turn food into energy. It helps keep your nervous system, digestive system and skin healthy.

Another main component of date fruit is fiber. Date fruit contains two or three times the fiber found in green vegetables like broccoli and cabbage. The predominant type of fiber in dates is a soluble fiber. Soluble fiber is able to dissolve in water, and forms a gel-like substance inside the gut.

Date powder is high in beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin. Date powder scored the highest in antioxidant content than any other sugar. Even when compared to honey and maple syrup, date sugar has up to 10 times more antioxidants. Date sugar is more than just natural sweetness. It has a flavor profile (notes of caramel, butterscotch and taffy) that will add more than just plain, sweetness to any recipe!
